Zeleta Loves Playing in the Snow

This morning Zeleta and I went out to play in the snow.  We played in the car (daddy had a heck of a time trying to push it around in the snow), Zeleta learned how to eat snow (but did whitewash herself a few times while getting the mechanisms down pat) and pushed snowballs under the dog fence (for Diamond the dog that is out during the summer).  All in all it was a really funny time, except for her not being able to get up when she falls ("Raphie I can't get up").

Zeleta is excited about all the Christmas decorations

Finals ended on Tuesday and to celebrate Wednesday while Zeleta was taking her nap I put up the Christmas decorations outside.  After Zeleta woke up we played with her blocks downstairs.  After awhile I told her I'd be right back, but that I needed to get some food out of the outside freezer for dinner.  When I came back inside Zeleta grabbed me by the hand saying: "Come mer daddy." multiple times.  When we reached the living room she told me: "Look daddy, Minnie."  And we looked out the window and just laugh and jumped around saying "Minnie, Minnie, Minnie."  Of course as soon as I good my phone out she stopped. But, at 5pm when we turned on our lights Zeleta didn't care that the camera was on, she just kept running back and forth to play with Mickey and Minnie.  She had a blast.  Here is a short video of the encounter.

Mickey!!! (and playing in the snow)

This is our prized treasure from the after Christmas sale last year...a blow up Mickey Mouse. Zeleta has really enjoyed it too. She wants Mickey to hold her puppy and then got her own chair to get on his level.

Playing in the Snow. (with ALL her winter gear. Aka snowpants and snowboots are difficult to walk around in)

reading books and slurps

This video is precious, but you have to really listen at the beginning. Zeleta is reading "A Cow in the Cabbage Patch" Each farm animal is in the wrong place and as the farmer puts them away he finds a new animal to put away in the right place (barn, stable, hen house, pig pen). The last page reads "Tell them all it's dinnertime, and then it wont be long Till all these naughty animals are back where they belong." Zeleta is saying dinnertime, dinnertime. and then What should we do? which is what the farmer says every time he finds an animal in the wrong place. After the first little bit she's just playing and being silly.

WARNING! This video is Zeleta slurping her milk. Slurps are usually the equivalent to nails on a chalk board to me, but since she's pretending to be a puppy it's adorable.

Flag! Flag! Flag!

Zeleta made her own flag out of a material bag and a fly swatter. She is also wearing Jeremy's swimming flippers.

Normally Crystal does this stuff, but I'm trying to be more proactive.  Zeleta has a lot of puzzle and lately she has been playing with them quite often.  She may have her mother's good lucks, but she has my puzzling involvement.

Impressing her Daddy

I decided to try and be a super Mom and have an engaging activity. We made moon sand: flour and baby oil. It had a caution that it was really messy! I decided we'd try it anyway and promised not to get mad at whatever happened. We had lots of fun, then Zeleta started getting silly by scooping the flour and putting it on her head. Jeremy came home and then Zeleta got really silly showing off to Daddy. She threw flour everywhere! It was a mess, but I wasn't mad. We had fun and next time we'll stick with play-doh.

Let is Snow! Let is Snow!

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween! We started by visiting the rest homes around town, our church trunk or treat, downtown businesses, and then we had a trick or trot put on by the nursing students at Jeremy's school. The most surprising thing was I was wearing a silly banana costume, but as we walked around town I heard tons of whispers and shouts "A Banana!" from tons of kids. I had no idea seeing a banana would be so exciting. Our little monkey was of course the cutest thing EVER!

Happy 2nd Birthday Zeleta!

Happenings...

 4TH OF JULY PARADE
Playing at the Lyon's Park Family Fun Days. We got to play games, feel the "sand" (flour and baby oil), put a ticket in for a tricycle/bike raffle and get lots of silly plastic toys using tickets we won from playing games. Our proudest moment is that Zeleta earned a toy herself at the fishbowl game. She had to throw a pingpong ball into one of the little fishbowls for a prize and she got it in all by herself on the first try. (It's from all the practice she's been doing throwing rocks)

They had a unveiling ceremony for the Lyon's Club new addition to their park....a water fountain. The announcer said this in probably the only time it's a good idea to put your head in a Lion's mouth.

Burningham Reunion

We had a fun going to SLC for a Burningham reunion.
 Celeste posing Asian style

 Bartletts love little girls

 B-I-N-G-O!!!!!!

Gotta start the  playing Bingo tradition young
Wow Grandpa! Thanks for the used long john prize! (perhaps a step up from the used its' still got $2.14 Perkins gift card)
Spending a day with Celeste in Lagoon is hilarious. She wants to ride EVERY ride. So of course she's stuck with Gpa for a bit and reported he was too slow walking from ride to ride. Later we all went together for a bit and Maclaen caught the spirit and also wanted to ride EVERY ride. I got a little woozy after a while and sat down and watched a random kid puking while they continued to ride "crazy" rides. and then as we were trying to leave 30 minutes before the park actually closed for the night Celeste continues to ask to ride more rides since she didn't get to ride all of them yet. whaaaa! can't we stay  longer??
Guiliana and Bulgy the Whale: the most famous ride of all rides
This is what Zeleta thought of the rides. She didn't like em so much. So we went to the waterslides/wading pool and she LOVED being in the water and went down the little slides all by herself like a big girl.

Saturday Adventures

We love a fun adventure. We LOVE being cheap. and when those two passions collide...watch out! We started off at the $2 a sack rummage sale at the Methodist Church. Fill your paper bag grocery sack with whatever you can for only $2. Mine was only about 3/4 full when I checked out and the nice man said "Say! That's not full!" So he picked up the box of toys Zeleta had been busy playing with and told me to fill up that sack with toys! We played at the Children's Museum today for free. Well...actually there was a car show in town and the local car dealer, Bennett Motors, was picking up the tab for those who went today. But I went in saying "I heard it was free day!" and they said no it's part of the car show...did you go to the car show?...ummmmm... then there was a voice in the back that said "and this is the part where you say YES I did" and then we went inside to play. Zeleta loved it and I was really impressed with the fun games and interaction there. At first I was a little impatient that we were in a new place and Zeleta was amazed by the first display of a fish and magnets. She stayed there a LONG time. I wanted to see it all!!!! but we eventually made it to see everything but not play with everything before it was...lunch time! Zeleta was exhausted from all that playing so she took a quick nap on our way to Sam's Club which we fed her free samples for lunch when she awoke from her slumber. Then home for a rest and play time. We ended our day going to a Spaghetti Feed at another church for a 10 yr old girl who was having a fundraiser to go to the National ice skating competition in Omaha Nebraska.  We sat next to an old lady who was a captive audience for Zeleta to entertain.
It's a good day to be a baby carpenter
I saw this mural and thought of a great idea: how about Zeleta being Curious George?
and this was the reality after trying for a while to make it work:

Here's Zeleta with one of her new toys and a bib to make her look like Super Baby! and she's kneeling because I was while trying to get this picture.

Big Girl

Zeleta LOVES eating Blueberries all by herself!
Zeleta and Dad had fun in the sun and played in her swimsuit and sprinklers. After dinner Jeremy put real clothes on her but Zeleta had a different idea. She insisted on wearing this dry swimsuit (going as far as trying to put it on herself). She is sad because she is grabbing Jeremy's pants to help guide him to go outside.
Happy Girl getting her shoes on. (Happy Belly too!)

Sleep little Zeleta

Today Jeremy told me a cute story about Zeleta. They were busy playing and having fun when Zeleta got sleepy. How did he know? She grabbed her pajamas and told him with her eyes "Please put these on me so I can then go to sleep." Our little girl is a genius!

Happy Birthday Crystal!

What's a girl to do for her 30th Birthday? Run away to the circus of course! Dad asked me if I wanted to get my face painted...and I said YES!

Intently watching the circus. While she was watching the contortionist, Zeleta suddenly also arched her back and flung her legs in the air. Her future is bright in show biz.

Riding the Pony, because we realized she probably wouldn't hold still to get painted after we bought her a ticket.

Because this is cute...
